iPad FAQ
Can Photogene edit RAW files? At what resolutions?Photogene can open and edit any file that the iPad camera-connection-kit can import. Even RAW files in very high resolutions (16MP and even higher). However, the maximum output resolution of Photogene is 3264×2448 (8 MP) and the result is always saved as a JPEG. The latest version of Photogene (v3.1) supports higher export resolution for iPad2 devices – up to 23MP (5616×4212).
How can I create new albums or move photos between albums?
This feature is available only to users with iOS 5, and requires location-services to be turned on for Photogene.
1. In the album view, press “select”.
2. Tap on the photos you’d like to move.
3. Select “add to…”.
4. Choose if you want to move them to a new album or to an existing one.
Please notice that photos will remain in their original album. Moving them to another album only creates a link to the original photo. The same photo can reside in several albums – if you edit or modify the photo in one album, the changes will be reflected in all the other albums.
Also, you can only move photos to albums which were created on the device itself. Albums synced from your computer are static and photos cannot be added to them.

How do I create a collage?
First, you must make sure that you are working with location-services enabled. Location services allow Photogene to display our own albums view, from which the collage maker is activated. If you are not sure if location-services are activated look at the right-top of the screen in edit mode. If you see a button labeled “done”, this means they are activated and you can use the collage-maker. If the button is labeled “edit new”, you’ll need to switch on location-services. See this link for instructions.
1. Go into the album view.
2. Tap the “select” button at the top-right of the screen.
3. Tap to select the photos you wish to put into the collage (2-6 photos).
4. Tap on the “Make Collage” button that now appears on the top center.

Double-tap the home button, then long-tap on the Photogene icon until you see a little red circle above it (like the underground logo). Press this circle. See attached screenshot.

How can I transfer my edited photos back to my computer?
In order to retrieve your saved photos, you’ll need to use a computer application that can connect to a digital camera – such as Picasa (free on Windows and Mac) or iPhoto (Mac only). When the iPad is connected to your computer, it represents itself as a digital camera. These applications will detect the iPad and allow you to retireve saved photos from it.

Why is there only 'Save' and not 'Save as'?
Photogene ALWAYS creates a fresh copy of the photo, and never overrides the original.
In that sense, every save is really a “save as”.
So why can’t I assign a file name to my saved photo?
The iPad doesn’t really have a concept of names for photos. The names are not displayed anywhere.

Why can't I save my edited photos back to their original album?
Sadly, the iPad operating system does not support altering the content of albums.
The only way to edit/add/remove photos from an album is by syncing with a PC. Only the “saved photos” album can be edited on the iPad itself.
Therefore, the edited photos can only be saved back to the “saved photos” album and not to their original source.
